The Last Pew at church?

It has taken me decades of life to discover the joy of the last pew at church worship. When I attended sacrament services for most of my life my family and I always seem to sit mid chapel. Historically Christian churches had family pews ordered family donations. I have to believe those days are long gone. My experience punctuality was the cost for farther up to podium.

Nowadays as a gramps and gram we have discovered the joy of the noisy children filled back row. The Savior always loved the children the best for their simple faith and willingness to obey, the first law under heaven. I digress. So if you have found your Sunday services a bit ordinary sitting with adult types wanting to show their devotion by being seen up front. As I did for half of my life. Come join the fun and joy bunch and maybe help a young family of five or single mother overwhelmed by two little ones. Oh most importantly don’t forget fruit roll-ups etc. Embrace the joy!

Carville and Greenberg Discover Opposition to Obama Isn't Racist (as quoted on the Rush Limbaugh email newsletter today).
"Here's our Media Tweak of the Day: It's not the color of Obama's skin that causes us any trouble. It's the color of his policies. It's not his blackness we oppose; it is his redness. You'll find red wherever you look in his agenda: Red ink and red policies." -Rush (Rush 24/7 Members: Listen)

World's biggest pancake?

Ok last Saturday our club found "a new place to dwell" during breakfast. Due to the Riverside Air Show and it’s humongus’ turn out. Our regular hang-out, D&D’s roadhouse grill(under the air tower), was over run by flyers and heir fans.
Rod (aka Dad) knew of a place called “Family Homestyle Café” in Loma Linda. Gotta tell you about the ginormus perfect pancake they serve on a platter. Grilled crisp on both sides a half to three quarters inch thick of the best griddle cake you can sink your teeth or dentures into. It is family owned and operated there is a comfy couch at the door so you can wait for your family/group to gather. Also a small family lounge back by the bathrooms. The real deal from my plate was the six egg green chile/cheese omellette it was the bomb diggety. Located @ 24735 Redlands Blvd., Loma Linda, CA 92354 just off Hwy 10 btwn Waterman & Anderson. Across the street from the place for compression hoses for your current racecar build.

Saturday AM ride..

..to one of the most peaceful places on the planet.
Myself and a dozen or so TRA (Temple Riders Association
http://www.templeriders.com/) riders met there. Couples and single associates met their coming from San Pedro and Glendale to Fontana and Woodcrest. Sharing some time together in what we know as joy or shared sacred moments. I do not speak offically for the church only someone who has learned and shared much since being a Boy Scout in Gardena CA as a member. Afterwards we shared a delightful repast at a near Claim Jumpers the smarter of us had great crab cakes and one ate the “Widow Maker” (I thought the avocado made it health food)? Sharing stories of faith, family, and friends. Road trips planned and road trips too be missed (we will be thinking of ya while you’re in Wymoing ‘VentureDUDE)!
The purpose of this post is why a few americans (especially those in the entertainment media)today must denegrate their fellow americans and their beliefs for TV ratings.
"Like other large faith groups, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sometimes finds itself on the receiving end of attention from Hollywood or Broadway, television series or books, and the news media. Sometimes depictions of the Church and its people are quite accurate. Sometimes the images are false or play to stereotypes. Occasionally, they are in appallingly bad taste.
As Catholics, Jews and Muslims have known for centuries, such attention is inevitable once an institution or faith group reaches a size or prominence sufficient to attract notice. Yet Latter-day Saints – sometimes known as Mormons - still wonder whether and how they should respond when news or entertainment media insensitively trivialize or misrepresent sacred beliefs or practices.
Church members are about to face that question again. Before the first season of the HBO series Big Love aired more than two years ago, the show’s creators and HBO executives assured the Church that the series wouldn’t be about Mormons. However, Internet references to Big Love indicate that more and more Mormon themes are now being woven into the show and that the characters are often unsympathetic figures who come across as narrow and self-righteous. And according to TV Guide, it now seems the show’s writers are to depict what they understand to be sacred temple ceremonies.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an institution does not call for boycotts. Such a step would simply generate the kind of controversy that the media loves and in the end would increase audiences for the series. As Elder M. Russell Ballard and Elder Robert D. Hales of the Council of the Twelve Apostles have both said recently, when expressing themselves in the public arena, Latter-day Saints should conduct themselves with dignity and thoughtfulness.
Not only is this the model that Jesus Christ taught and demonstrated in his own life, but it also reflects the reality of the strength and maturity of Church members today. As someone recently said, “This isn’t 1830, and there aren’t just six of us anymore.” In other words, with a global membership of thirteen and a half million there is no need to feel defensive when the Church is moving forward so rapidly. The Church’s strength is in its faithful members in 170-plus countries, and there is no evidence that extreme misrepresentations in the media that appeal only to a narrow audience have any long-term negative effect on the Church.
During the Mitt Romney election campaign for the presidency of the United States, commentator Lawrence O’Donnell hurled abuse at the Church in a television moment that became known among many Church members as “the O’Donnell rant.” Today, his statements are remembered only as a testament to intolerance and ignorance. They had no effect on the Church that can be measured.
Now comes another series of Big Love, and despite earlier assurances from HBO it once again blurs the distinctions between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the show’s fictional non-Mormon characters and their practices. Such things say much more about the insensitivities of writers, producers and TV executives than they say about Latter-day Saints.
If the Church allowed critics and opponents to choose the ground on which its battles are fought, it would risk being distracted from the focus and mission it has pursued successfully for nearly 180 years. Instead, the Church itself will determine its own course as it continues to preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world." http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/commentary/the-publicity-dilemma
thank you for letting me borrow your attention for some shared moments. JD

Sad day for our country’s news cycle (the shooting) like the socialization of our past free capitalistic great nation was not SAD enuf. So no today we turn left. Let’s go off the political highway to the scenic one. As you may have noticed the main page picture is a shot of my cruiser. A yamaha vStar1300.
This bike has given me wings. Also more fun than I thought a thing could. I mostly don't believe in things for things sake. Yes i am a Conservative, American, Consuming, Compassionate kinda guy. However this has awoke an old cowboy gene/jean i never have known before. I wasn’t prepared for the sights and smells of riding around locally. Riding down the road past bacon (and/or ham) wafting in the air. So cowboy up with us! Those rolling down the USA back and front roads in the AM.
The dirty bike club (or cup of clean politics gang) meet about 47 of 52 Saturdays for breakfast at D&D Café (under the Riverside air tower). We fix the country or county by breakfasts end. Join us!

Karl Rove said in the WSJ: "

President Barack Obama reveres Abraham Lincoln. But among the glaring differences between the two men is that Lincoln offered careful, rigorous, sustained arguments to advance his aims and, when disagreeing with political opponents, rarely relied on the lazy rhetorical device of "straw men." Mr. Obama, on the other hand, routinely ascribes to others views they don't espouse and says opposition to his policies is grounded in views no one really advocates.

On Tuesday night, Mr. Obama told Congress and the nation, "I reject the view that . . . says government has no role in laying the foundation for our common prosperity." Who exactly has that view? Certainly not congressional Republicans, who believe that through reasonable tax cuts, fiscal restraint, and prudent monetary policies government contributes to prosperity.

Mr. Obama also said that America's economic difficulties resulted when "regulations were gutted for the sake of a quick profit at the expense of a healthy market." Who gutted which regulations?"
